The Translator

I was born and raised in Brazil, but it was in the U.S., more specifically in Brooklyn, New York, that autism became a part of my life. The year of 2006 was when I moved here and also when my first son, Asher, was born.

Asher can not use the spoken word to make himself understood. He is what the experts would call a “non-verbal”. Ever since early in 2008, when Asher was first diagnosed, we all traveled through a long road. I ended up giving up my old career as a Pharmacist to pursue Translation. So, this blog is a convergence of the emotions, interests, years of educating myself, and the desire to understand my son better and to crate a safe and inviting environment for him.

Above all, this blog is for him.
